Bio

Welcome!

I am a writer, journalist, and new media content producer.  Born and raised in Vancouver, my career experience is what I like to call well-rounded: environmental canvasser; disability support worker; secretary; arts administrator; media wrangler and most recently, digital and broadcast journalist.

Last year I attended the New Media Journalism graduate program at Sheridan College in Ontario.  I received rigorous training in the practise of digital and broadcast journalism, and graduated with High Honours. In 2012 I began working at CBC as a news writer and joined the many ranks of journalists in a brave new field that has journalism, social media, and public relations all banging heads in the giant mosh-pit known as the “digital age”.

As Hagan Blount so famously put it, “Will tweet for food”.

If I could choose a beat to cover, my top three choices would be social justice, First Nations and environmental issues.

And when I’m not working in the world of 24-hours news and information, I’m hanging with my family, trying new things, meeting new people and searching for the next challenge and adventure.

“I keep telling myself to calm down, to take less of an interest in things and not to get so excited, but I still care a lot about liberty, freedom of speech and expression, and fairness in journalism. ”
